Torn backpack!

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

I’m riding the bus home as usual, backpack on my lap. This older guy stumbles into the bus and sits down next to me. The bus begins moving and for some reason he decides to get up. As he’s getting up the bus lurches a little more forward and he takes a giant step past me, but not before catching the side of my backpack with his leg. The sheer force of him pushing against my backpack laterally tore part of the straps at the top seam. It may not seem like a massive tear in the photo but it’s at a critical point that holds a lot of stress. I tugged on it a little and it’s clearly weakened to the point that sewing it back wouldn’t give the same strength. Ugh! I was going to use this pack in England too!

So now I’m off to Sports Basement to try to find a replacement. I could use a little bigger one anyways.

Going by several English names, All About My Dog (いぬのえいが) is absolutely one of the most beautiful and saddest things I’ve seen lately a dog, Marimo (マリモ), and her owner, Mika…

Catching Up Is Hard To Do

Monday, October 1st, 2007

Since diving back into work at the end of July I really haven’t been around friends much. It was the mad rush to meet a couple of deadlines and now that we’ve met those goals I can relax a little. Meanwhile, life for everyone else seems to have gone on. I’m just now catching up on what’s happened to everyone. A few went to Hawaii, someone’s new car is almost here, a friend’s newborn is about to have some sort of Chinese ceremony, there’s been relationship ups and downs, and so on… This weekend I spent it running around to meet up with different people and/or talk to them over the phone. There was one friend’s birthday at a tiki lounge, a concert on Friday night, and I finally caught another friend in the Castro that I haven’t seen in months. I also got to see my parents for the first time in several months—quality time that is. (I did pop by once last month only for like an hour.) One of my aunts is coming into town next week too, so that’s even better.

I spent the morning also catching up on e-mail, checking out new pictures on Flickr, popping into Yelp.com.

Life is … good. Breathe in, breathe out.
